
Introduction to Evidence-Based Trauma Medicine
Course Description
Introductory Tactical Medicine is a hands-on trauma response course designed for responsible armed citizens, firearms students, range personnel, security teams, church safety teams, hunters, and anyone committed to being their own first responder.
This course introduces evidence-based trauma care principles consistent with Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care best practices. Students will learn how to recognize and manage life-threatening injuries during high-stress situations using the PMARCHP trauma assessment algorithm.
Training will focus on:
Controlling massive hemorrhage with tourniquets
Wound packing for severe bleeding
Managing penetrating trauma
Recognizing and treating junctional injuries
Applying chest seals for penetrating chest trauma
Building confidence under pressure through practical skills application
This is not a lecture-only course. Students should expect hands-on practice, scenario-based instruction, and a serious training environment.
